The main Industrial Area of Jharkhand
Adityapur is essentially an Industrial Area situated in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district of Jharkhand just a few Kilometers away from the steel city of Jamshedpur. It is located at a distance of about 8 km from Tatanagar (Jamshedpur) railway station and 8 km from Jamshedpur Airport. Ranchi Airport is just 130 km away from Adityapur.
The Adityapur Industrial area is controlled by the Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority (AIADA). The Industrial area spans over an area of about 53 square miles spread over 83 revenue villages. It is spread over about 3500 acres of land in a stretch of 8 km on the southern part of the Tata - Chakradharpur state Highway. The entire Industrial Area of Adityapur is under the administrative control of the state government's independent body, viz. AIADA. The controlled area includes Industrial, Residential, Commercial and Institutional area with good and adequate civic amenities. The entire industrial area is broadly divided into seven phases with each phase having direct approach from the state highway. AIADA is in the process of acquiring more land to the extent of about 2000 acres for setting up Industrial units in years to come.
The Industrial Area consists of 1000+ small, medium and large industrial units having an annual average production of about Rs 1500 crores. There are numerous residential complexes, a few markets, a few small scale hospitals and clinics, etc. within the Adityapur Industrial Area. The total investment in Adityapur Industrial Area is to the tune of Rs 1400 crores, which is increasing every year, with large no. of units being set up. AIADA is very actively pursuing development activities in this industrial area to promote more new investments.
The product range manufactured in the Industrial Area fall in the following segments: Engineering, Electronics, Electrical, Refractory & Ceramics, Plastics, Rubber & other Polymers, Reinforced Plastics, Computer & other stationary, Food Products, Glass Products, Steel, Packaging, etc.
The Jharkhand state government has plans to develop the Adityapur Industrial Area into a modern city providing all modern amenities for a small sized Industrial city. Two modern City center complexes with modern amenities, markets and residential facilities are coming up in the near future. The main arterial road (state highway) that runs across the entire length of the industrial area has been recently converted into a modern 4-lane toll road. Several inner roads have been widened and upgraded.
Availability of Technical personnel and technical training institutes
There is no dearth of technical expertise in and around Adityapur Industrial Area - with the well equipped National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML), sophisticated Indo Danish Tool Room & Training Centre (IDTR, now known as MSME Tool Room), National Institute of Technology, Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), Tata Steel's Technical Institute, Polytechnics and numerous private training outfits providing vocational courses in subjects ranging from technician level work like welder & fitter, training in design & drafting including CAD, IT education, etc.
